Steamies Dumplings: A Family-Owned Gem in North Austin [Review]

If you are looking for a deliciousaffordable, and authentic dumpling experience, look no further than Steamies Dumplings. This family-owned restaurant has been serving hand-made dumplings with fresh and local ingredients since 2018. Whether you prefer them steamed, pan-fried, or frozen to take home, you will not be disappointed by the variety and quality of their offerings.

How was the food?

The food was amazing. I tried the chicken and shiitake, the pork and shrimp (monthly special), and the veggie dumplings, and they were all flavorfuljuicy, and satisfying. The dumplings came with a house-made sauce that added a nice kick to each bite. I also ordered the crispy scallion pancakes, which were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, and the house-made pineapple soda, which was refreshing and fizzy.

How was the ambiance?

The ambiance was cozy and friendly. The restaurant is located in a small strip mall, but the interior is decorated with colorful and cute dumpling-themed art and signs. The staff was welcoming and attentive, and the service was fast and efficient. The restaurant also has a large and clean dining area, with comfortable seats and tables.

What would you recommend ordering from their menu?

I would recommend ordering the monthly special dumplings, as they are always creative and delicious. For example, the pork and shrimp dumplings I had were stuffed with fresh and succulent shrimp and pork, and topped with crispy garlic and green onions. I would also recommend the veggie dumplings, as they are packed with healthy and tasty vegetables, such as cabbage, carrots, mushrooms, and tofu. And of course, you can’t go wrong with the classic chicken and shiitake dumplings, which are simple but perfect.

Do they accept walk-ins, or do I need a reservation?

They accept walk-ins, but you can also call ahead to place your order or make a reservation. They are usually busy during lunch and dinner hours, so it might be a good idea to plan ahead if you want to avoid the wait.

When is the best time to go?

The best time to go is anytime you are craving for some yummy dumplings. They are open every day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and they also have frozen dumplings available for purchase, so you can enjoy them at home whenever you want. They also participate in local farmers markets on weekends, where you can find them at LakelineSFC Downtown, and Mueller1.

Do they accept bookings for special events?

Yes, they do. They can cater for your special events, such as birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, or corporate meetings. They can provide a customized menu and a professional service for your guests. You can contact them by phone or email to discuss your needs and preferences.

Is it worth visiting?

Absolutely. Steamies Dumplings is a must-try for anyone who loves dumplings or wants to try something new and different. They offer a high-quality and affordable dining experience, with a friendly and family-oriented atmosphere. They are one of the best dumpling places in Austin, and I can’t wait to go back and try more of their mouth-watering creations.
