Tomo Sushi: A Hidden Gem for Sushi Lovers in Austin [Review]

sushi 2 If you are looking for a place to enjoy authentic and fresh sushi, then you might want to check out Tomo Sushi. This restaurant is located in the Northwest area of Austin, on Parmer Lane, and offers a variety of sushi, sashimi, and Japanese dishes. The chef has over 25 years of experience, and sources his fish from local and international markets.

How was the food?

The food was fantastic. We ordered the chef’s choice sashimi platter, the spicy tuna roll, and the salmon nigiri. The sashimi was thinly slicedmelt-in-your-mouth, and bursting with flavor. The spicy tuna roll was crunchyspicy, and satisfying. The salmon nigiri was butterysmooth, and delicate. The portions were generous and filling.

How was the ambiance?

The ambiance was casual and cozy. The restaurant has a simple and clean decor, with wooden tables, bamboo mats, and a sushi bar. The music was low and soothing, creating a relaxing atmosphere. The staff were friendly, attentive, and professional. The restaurant was not too busy, and the service was quick and efficient.

What would you recommend ordering from their menu?

We would recommend ordering the chef’s choice sashimi platter from their menu, as it was the highlight of our meal. It was a large and beautiful platter of assorted sashimi, including tuna, salmon, yellowtail, snapper, scallop, and more. The fish was freshtender, and delicious, and the presentation was artistic and appealing.

Do they accept walk-ins, or do I need a reservation?

They accept both walk-ins and reservations. However, we would advise making a reservation in advance, especially on weekends or evenings, as the restaurant is quite popular and can get busy. You can make a reservation by phone or online.

When is the best time to go?

The best time to go is lunch time. The restaurant is open from Monday to Friday, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., and on Saturday, from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m.. The lunch menu offers a variety of dishes, from bento boxes, noodles, and rice bowls, to sushi, sashimi, and rolls. The lunch prices are affordable and reasonable.

Do they accept bookings for special events?

Yes, they do. The restaurant has a private dining room that can accommodate up to 20 people. You can book it for special events, such as birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, or corporate meetings. The restaurant can also provide customized menus and catering services, according to your preferences and budget.

Is it worth visiting?

Yes, it is. We had a wonderful experience at Tomo Sushi, and we would definitely go back. The restaurant offers authentic and fresh sushi, as well as a casual and cozy atmosphere. The service was excellent, and the prices were reasonable. If you are a sushi lover, or just looking for a good Japanese restaurant in Austin, you should give this place a try. You won’t regret it.
