Villa La Mirabella: A Lakefront Gem in Lake Como [Review]

If you are looking for a quaint and charming hotel on the shores of Lake Como, you might want to consider Villa La Mirabella. This historic villa dates back to the mid 19th century and offers a breathtaking view of the lake and the mountains. In this review, I will share with you my experience of staying at this lovely hotel and why I think it is a great choice for a relaxing and romantic getaway.

How do you get to the hotel?

Getting to Villa La Mirabella is quite easy, as it is located in the village of Cadenabbia, which is well connected by public transportation. You can take a bus from Como or Menaggio, or a ferry from Bellagio or Varenna. The hotel is just a short walk from the bus stop and the ferry dock. If you are driving, you can park your car for free in the hotel’s indoor parking.

Is there a restaurant and/or bar in the hotel?

Yes, there is a restaurant and a bar in the hotel, both with a veranda overlooking the lake. The restaurant serves a delicious Italian breakfast every morning, as well as snacks during the day and dinner in the evening. The menu features local and seasonal dishes, prepared with fresh ingredients and accompanied by a selection of fine wines. The bar is a cozy and elegant place to enjoy a drink or a coffee, while admiring the scenic view.

What are the facilities available to be enjoyed by guests?

One of the best features of Villa La Mirabella is its large park with a swimming pool. The park is a green oasis of peace and tranquility, where you can relax on a sunbed, read a book, or take a dip in the pool. The pool is heated and has a waterfall and a jacuzzi. From the pool, you can also enjoy a stunning view of the lake and the Villa Carlotta museum, which is just across the road.

What amenities does the hotel have?

The hotel has 11 rooms, all air-conditioned and renovated. The rooms have a classic design, with some original period pieces of the house. Most of the rooms have balconies with a lovely view of the lake or the garden. The rooms are equipped with a flat-screen TV, a minibar, a safe, and a private bathroom with a hairdryer and complimentary toiletries. The hotel also offers free wifi throughout the property, as well as a reading room and a dining hall.

What are the nearby tourist attractions?

Villa La Mirabella is a perfect point of departure to discover the most romantic lake in the world. You can take a boat or a water taxi from the hotel’s mooring post and explore the picturesque villages and the majestic villas along the lake. You can also visit the Villa Carlotta museum, which is famous for its art collection and its botanical garden. Other attractions include the Anglican Church of the Ascension, the Parrocchia SS Nabore e Felice, and the golf clubs in Menaggio and Cadenabbia, where you can enjoy a game with a discount as a guest of the hotel.

What would you rate the hotel?

I would rate Villa La Mirabella 5 stars out of 5, as I had a wonderful stay there. The hotel is cleancomfortable, and friendly. The staff is helpful and attentive, and they made me feel welcome and special. The location is convenient and beautiful, and the food is tasty and varied. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to experience a magical holiday on Lake Como.
